Module 7 Summary

In this module we had a quick refresher on the difference between Competencies and Capabilities. We went on to differentiate between Job Specific Competencies and Generic Competencies. We discussed how competencies are developed and the role that Capability plays in developing Competencies. We provided an overview of the key tools available for assessing Competencies...
  • CV’s
  • Interviews
  • Work Sample Tests
  • 360 Assessments
  • Assessment Centre Tools

We highlighted the limitations of some of these methods and focused specifically on interviews because they are the most commonly used selection tool.
We also emphasised that psychometric tests cannot be used to assess competencies, and the tools for assessing competencies cannot be used to assess capability.
